Heat Tracing Cable | Tapes And Cords For Pipes

Heat Tracing has been widely used as an effective tube insulation and anti-freeze solution. Its working principle is to dissipate a certain amount of heat through the heating media, and supplement the loss of the heated tube through direct or indirect heat exchange to achieve the normal working requirements of heating, insulation or anti-freeze. It is currently mainly used in industries: petroleum, Chemical industry, thermal power plants and other places that require heat tracing tubes. In public facilities, it is mainly used for heat tracing of fire tubes. In civil applications, it can be used for indoor heating (floor heating), and is now widely used in the heat tracing of solar Heater water tubes.

The voltage classification includes 12V, 24V, 36V, 110V, 220V, 380V, 600V and other voltage levels. Among them, 12V heat tracing cables are mostly used in imported and domestic high-end car seat cushions; 24V and 36V heat tracing cables are mainly used in low-voltage situations. Countries with 110V voltage (such as Japan and other countries); 220V heat tracing cables is suitable for public places; voltage levels of 380 V and above are suitable for high voltage and low current places.

Classification

According to the heating principle, heat tracing cables are usually divided into self-controlling temperature heat tracing cables, constant power heat tracing cables and MI Heating Cables.

The difference between the use of self-controlling temperature heat tracing cables and constant power heat tracing cables

  • Self-controlling temperature heat tracing cables can be cut by oneself, installed cross-overly, and constant power heat tracing cables cannot be used.
  • The single length of the self-controlling temperature heat tracing is less than 100 meters (generally 20-30 meters for civilian use) and the constant power heat tracing cables can be more than 100 meters (longer in series, generally 500 meters to 3000 meters. Specific needs to be customized)
  • Both can be controlled by the Thermostat. But constant power must be used

The difference between heating cables and heat tracing cables

The main function of the heat tracing cable is heating and insulation, and its working temperature ranges from about 65°C to 600°C (there are big differences in different models and specifications of heating cables); but heating cable is heating and insulation , operates at a temperature between 40 and 60°C, and conducts the heating medium through contact.

Characteristics of heat tracing cables

  1. High efficiency: Heat tracing cable uses electric energy as energy source, generates heat quickly, and can convert electric energy into thermal energy, reducing energy waste and improving heating efficiency.
  2. Precise control: The heat tracing cables can adjust the heating power and temperature according to actual needs to achieve precise heating effects.
  3. Long life: The heater tracing cable is made of high-quality materials and can be used in special Industrial environments with long life.

How to choose heat tracing cable?

  1. Considering from the length of use time: the service life of the constant power heat tracing cable is longer, and the service life of the self-controlling temperature heat tracing cables is relatively short.
  2. Consider the length of the use distance: choose the series heat tracing cable according to the distance you need to use.
  3. Consider from the perspective of whether to use temperature control: using a constant power heat tracing cable requires the use of a thermostat. If you use a self-controlling temperature heat tracing cables, you do not need to use a thermostat.
  4. Consider from the perspective of anti-corrosion: When choosing a heat tracing cable, you need to choose a heat tracing cable containing fluorine materials.
  5. Consider from the aspects of explosion-proof and non-explosion-proof requirements: If explosion-proof requirements are required, it is necessary to use heat tracing cable with explosion-proof inner insulation materials and shielding layers.
  6. Consider from temperature: If the requirements are not too high, you can use self-controlling temperature heat tracing cables. If the temperature requirements are too high, you need to use constant power heat tracing cables and MI heating cable.
